हमारी ४० दिनों की सब मेहनत लिकर शॉप्स या कहे की ठेक्के खोलने से बर्बाद हो गयी!

क्या वाकई शराब इतनी ज़रूरी है? मने कि  शराब तो अत्यधिक आवश्यक चीज़ो जैसे कि हॉस्पिटल या मेडिकल सुविधाओं की श्रेणी में है।  

हरिवंश बच्चन जी  मधुशाला एक संदेश देती थी पर ये आज क्या सन्देश मिला? कुछ नहीं :-(

कल फ्रेंडशिप डे है....मित्रता दिवस...वैसे तो मित्रो के लिए कोई भी दिन होता है किंतु यह दिन कई वर्षों से दक्षिण अमेरिकी देशों में मनाया जा रहा है, विशेष रूप से पराग्वे, जहां पहली बार विश्व मैत्री दिवस - अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मैत्री दिवस 1958 में प्रस्तावित किया गया था। आज की भागदौड़ भारी लाइफ मे मित्रता को भी सेलेब्रेट करने के लिए एक दिवस की आवश्‍यकता पड़ती है....सुनने मे अजीब किंतु सत्य भी यही है! मेरी और से सभी दोस्तो को मित्रता दिवस की ढेर सारी सूभकामनायें.
अपने ब्लॉग को फिर से शुरू करने के लिए इससे अच्छा विषय नही मिल सकता था !

Blair's sister-in-law converts to Islam !

LONDON: Former British prime minister Tony Blair's sister-in-law Lauren Booth revealed over the weekend that she has converted to Islam. Booth, who is half-sister to Cherie Blair and a Catholic by birth, switched faith after a recent visit to Iran. A human rights campaigner and journalist, she works for Press TV, Iran's 24-hour English language international news channel.

News of Booth's conversion surfaced after she was showcased at a rally here under the banner of Global Peace and Unity 2010, attended by several Islamic hardliners. It was a propaganda coup for those who militantly propagate Islam.

Booth (43), who has once figured in a reality television contest, told a section of British media, ``I had a delightful experience at a Muslim shrine in Iran six weeks ago. I now pray five times a day and occasionally go to a mosque. And I haven't had an alcoholic drink for 45 days.''

Booth now covers her head and neck with hijab when outside her home (and doesn't rule out wearing a burqa in future), no longer eats pork and reads the Quran every day. She conceded that her decision to convert might create a controversy. ``Every action sparks a reaction,'' she said.

Cherie Blair, a practising Catholic, and her husband Tony, who converted from the Church of England to Roman Catholicism in 2007, were unavailable for comment.

Last month, Booth accused Blair of lacking impartiality in his current role as Middle East envoy. Having earlier protested against Britain's involvement in the 2003 United Stated-led invasion of Iraq, she said her brother-in-law could not be a balanced negotiator between Palestinians and Israelis because he was prejudiced against Muslims.

In a letter published in the Morning Star, a communist daily, she described participating in a rally in Iran where mothers reportedly wept over deaths in Palestinian cities like Rafah and Nablus. "Do you recognise these place names, Tony?'' she asked. `` Israel has massacred children in all these cities in recent years,'' she reminded him.

Launching Bhuvan: ISRO’s answer to Google Earth, zoom into states, districts !!

Google Earth’s got some competition now — from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which today unveiled its beta version of Bhuvan (meaning earth in Sanskrit).

A web-based tool like Google Earth, Bhuvan promises to give better 3-D satellite imagery of India than is currently being offered by the US-based software giant plus a host of India-specific features like weather information and even administrative boundaries of all states and districts.

The tool would offer pictures of the globe, just like Google Earth, and navigable in the same way but currently has the best resolutions over the Indian sub-continent. It allows users to fly from space to street level, grab, spin and zoom down to any place.

It also provides tools for measuring, drawing, saving, printing and visualizing thematic information. The resolutions currently on offer are good enough to view a vehicle moving on a road quite clearly.

UGC Tightens Ph. D. Norms, Entrance Test Must !

New Delhi: Getting a PhD degree in India will not be a cakewalk anymore. Alarmed at a panel report citing malpractices in the process of getting a PhD, UGC has made entrance exams mandatory for PhD and MPhil aspirants.

The entrance will be followed by an interview where aspirants will discuss their research area. After admission to PhD, students will have to do course work for at least a semester. The course will be treated as pre-research preparation and universities will fix the minimum qualifying criteria to proceed with writing of dissertation.

At present there is no entrance examination for those wanting a doctorate degree. Central universities have set some basic standards, but in many state and deemed universities, Phds can be taken in bulk. The Mungekar Committee Report found that students with the poorest percentage can get enrolled and acquire a doctorate degree in 3-5 years. There were instances where research guides wrote theses for students and even stage-managed experts during viva-voce.

The new norms will ensure that before submission of theses, students make a pre-MPhil/PhD presentation in the department for feedback. It will also be mandatory for them to publish one research paper in a refereed journal. The thesis will be evaluated by two experts, including one outside the state, followed by a viva-voce examination.
UGC has exempted PhD holders who do their doctoral programmes under the new norms from clearing the National Eligibility Test (NET) for lectureship.

For others, NET/SLET (state level examination for lectureship) is a must for recruitment. UGC has also restricted the number of seats for PhD/MPhil in universities but it will be compulsory for them to advertise the seats to encourage students from other states. Also, supervisors cannot have more than eight PhD and five MPhil scholars at a time.

To check plagiarism, researchers will have to submit theses on a CD so that the content can be checked for duplication and cheating before handing out degrees. UGC has asked all state, central, private and deemed universities to prepare a database of research work and digitalise them.

New Accuracy Analysy by SIS.

Spatial Information Solutions Inc.(SIS) has introduced Accuracy Analyst, software designed to determine the location accuracy of the image data used to produce maps.
Users can use the software productively after 30 minutes of training; it reduces the time needed for traditional accuracy assessment by as much as 80 percent, according to SIS. Accuracy Analyst provides all of the statistical information required by photogrammetric professionals, the company says. But according to me this can not take place of ERDAS Imagine software. That is best Image Praocessing Software.
